Botox® is a neuromodulator that temporarily relaxes the muscles responsible for dynamic wrinkles — the lines that form from repeated facial expressions like squinting, frowning, and smiling. When injected into targeted muscles, Botox® allows the overlying skin to smooth out and rest.
It is most commonly used on the forehead, between the brows, and around the eyes, and can also be used therapeutically to relieve jaw tension associated with TMJ.
Botox® appointments are straightforward and require no downtime. There is no recovery period following Botox®. Some patients experience minor swelling, tenderness, or redness at the injection sites for one to two days.
